So, this is how it happens: You go online to book a hotel room, and you think you’re on the hotel’s website. But, without your knowledge, you’ve been sent to a third-party booking site.
You find a great deal — way lower than rates you’ve seen other places — so you book it. And everything is great until you try to change the reservation.
You’re not alone. The American Hotel & Lodging Association says 480 online hotel bookings are made per minute, and every year, 2.5 million of those bookings mislead consumers.
