Checking out of town this holiday? Stayful.com is based in Southern California and helps travelers looking for an unforgettable experience find boutique hotels for as much as 30 percent off the online rate.
“If you are looking to go somewhere, and you want to go somewhere locally, maybe you want to go to Palm Springs, Anaheim, San Diego,” said Natalie Kimball of Stayful. “You can utilize Stayful, especially this time of year. This is a great time of year, from mid-November through the end of the year — hotels don’t have as high occupancy.” And Kimball said that translates to savings for the customer.
What separates Stayful and other sites like Priceline, Expedia and Hotels.com is that Stayful only deals with boutique hotels. Travelers won’t find big hotel chains on the site.
“People will hear the word ’boutique’…and they think it is going to cost a lot of money. That is not the case,” Kimball said to CBS2/KCAL9′s Suzanne Marques while at the Georgian Hotel in Santa Monica.
Stayful says it partners with independent hotels that support mom-and-pop business and give back to the community.
“For example, the hotel that we are in right now, they don’t source a large coffee outlet that we all may be familiar with. They use a local company from here in Los Angeles, Groundworks,” Kimball said.
The site was launched a year ago and has been growing quickly, adding approximately three to four cities a month. To date, you can find hotels in 21 cities across the country, and they’ve added Vancouver.
Kimball advised, “Hotel travel doesn’t have to be within seven days, 30 days, within 60 days, you really can wait. Find the hotel that works for you, really make sure that you are in the right neighborhood, and start bidding.”
