Luxury D.C. hotel faces discrimination complaint from gay, former employee

The luxury Willard InterContinental Hotel in Washington is facing legal action after a former employee says he was the frequent target of anti-gay slurs.

WJLA-TV reports that former apprentice chef Alberto Vega says between March 2012 and August 2013 he was subjected to discrimination from coworkers over his sexual orientation. Vega filed a complaint with the D.C. Office of Human Rights, which found that he was “subjected to a hostile work environment based on sexual orientation … was retaliated against after complaining … and ultimately resigned as a result of a hostile work environment.” “They called me ‘faggot,’” he said. “They called me probably a loser because I’m a faggot.”
