A historic building, restored into an award-winning boutique hotel, is now open for business. The O'Neil in Kinston opened Wednesday and is almost fully booked for the night, according to Owner Stephen Hill. Hill restored the old Farmers and Merchants bank building last year, after it sat vacant for many years. Hill, who also owns Mother Earth Brewery, spent $2 million renovating the building that was originally constructed in 1924. Earlier this year, the hotel won a statewide contest for historic rehabilitation by the North Carolina Chapter of the American Planning Association before it was opened.
